Learner Journey

Student e-portfolio

As students reach beyond pen and paper centred learning, the traditional paper-based portfolio of work is increasingly outdated. The use of video, audio and images in learning, and the increasing use of the Internet create a need for a portfolio which is available anywhere, at any time, and which can be improved and built on throughout a student's lifetime. Parents and teachers are also seeking safe social networking sites for kids that are closely monitored and have in-built e-safety systems.

What makes it so powerful?

  • Customisable pages, colorful themes and a range of drag and drop add ons let students personalise their portfolio to reflect their personality.
  • The social networking aspects of Learner Journey promote communication between students, enabling them to support each other's learning.
  • From your point of view, Learner Journey is designed to be as easy as possible to manage.
  • Accessible from anywhere with an Internet connection, Learner Journey gives students the opportunity to share their work and achievements with parents.

Give your students ownership of their work

Learner Journey is a web based e-portfolio system which provides a versatile alternative to a physical portfolio of work. Students have access to e-portfolios from home, school or anywhere they can connect to the Internet, and the system allows safe social networking between students at the same school - promoting collaborative learning and allowing them to discuss work with their peers.

Why should we use Learner Journey at our school?

Many schools pose the question "Why use a separate e-portfolio system - can't we use our existing VLE?" Whilst some of the features within Learner Journey are shared by VLEs they are not necessarily as accessible to students outside of school, and as students move between schools, they may not be able to transfer their portfolio between different VLE systems. Learner Journey gives students a life-long portfolio, which they can maintain independently over their academic career.
